Rs5.5b donated to Pakistan for Covid fight
Since the advent of coronavirus in 2019, Pakistan has received donations up to approximately Rs5.5 billion on the pretext of battling the prevailing pandemic.
The aforementioned revelation was made during the question and answer session in the Senate on Thursday.
A Senator revealed that the amount received by Pakistan includes foreign donations of up to Rs1.10 billion and domestic donations up to Rs3.89 billion.
It is pertinent to note that these statistics have also been confirmed by the report issued by the Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division that launched the Ehsaas programme, an umbrella initiative of 134 policies and programmes, in 2019 for the uplift of marginalised people of the country.
Earlier in 2020, many leading businessmen of the country apart from parliamentarians had donated a good sum of money that was used to fulfill the needs of daily wagers during the coronavirus induced lockdown.
