SHC annoyed over police performance in missing children case
The Sindh High Court (SHC), while expressing frustration over the absence of DIG CIA in a case pertaining to recovery of 12 missing children, issued directions for his appearance at the next hearing along with the progress report and use of modern technology for their recovery.
A two-judge bench, headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, heard the petition seeking recovery of 12 missing children. The court expressed its annoyance over non-recovery of the children.
The court remarked angrily to the police officers that it was unfortunate that they were not serious even on the issue of children. The CIA officials admitted that whereabouts of 12 of the 36 children were not known. It is feared that children may have been used in human trafficking or organ sales. Investigation is being carried out through this aspects.
The court inquired why the DIG CIA did not appear. "The issue of missing children is very serious," the court remarked, and ordered that missing children must be recovered immediately.
The petitioner's counsel stated that 12 children were still missing. Police said a missing girl got married but the girl's parents have no idea. The police also said that a missing child fell into an open drain and died but they did not provide the report with evidence.
The court remarked on police report that they were only working at the surface level. The court summoned the DIG CIA in person on November 24 along with the progress report. The court also ordered to use of modern technology for their recovery.
