Buzdar okays disparity allowance for varsities

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday to give, in principle, approval to disparity allowance for teachers and employees of universities and assured to resolve universities' problems.
The chief minister also instructed the finance department about allowance while other matters will also be streamlined. He said work was being done on the smart university project.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of vice chancellors comprising of Dr Niaz Akhtar Punjab University, Dr Muhammad Saleem Azhar University of Sargodha, Dr Abdul Sattar Shakir PTUT Lahore, Dr Mahmood Saleem Mir Chakar Khan Rind University and Dr Naveed A Chaudhry Emerson University Multan.
Higher Education Minister Raja Yasir Humayun, SACM Hasaan Khawar, secretaries of higher education and finance departments, registrars of Punjab University and UET Taxila were also present.
“Establishing a university in each district is the mission of the government,” he said.
The CM pointed that Seerat Chairs have also been established at six universities and its scope would be further expanded. “The government will extend full support to you to promote higher education in the province,” Buzdar assured the delegation.
Meanwhile, on the directions of the chief minister, special meals were served to the prisoners at all jails on Rabiul Awwal 12.
Paratha, tea and halwa were given in breakfast while chicken biryani, yoghurt and traditional zarda were served in lunch. The prisoners were given dinner comprising of chicken boti, vermicelli complemented by Kashmiri tea.
“The special meals are served in connection with the auspicious occasion birth anniversary of Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) who has practised taking care of captives and setting examples of treating them,” the CM added.
Earlier, the chief minister visited the FM95 Punjab Rung radio at PILAC and received live calls from the listeners who were pleasantly surprised to hear the chief minister live.
