Police arrest four alleged robbers after crossfire

Arms, motorcycles and other valuables recovered from their possession

HYDERABAD:

Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested four alleged robbers after cross firing in the jurisdiction of Hali Road police station. A police party, patrolling in the area, acted on a message received on the wireless and rushed to American Quartets where armed motorcyclists opened fire on the police mobile. The police retaliated, as a result three alleged outlaws identified as Shah Nawaz alias Shano Chandio, Fayaz Abro and Allahyar alias Katoo Malano were arrested while their accomplice Amir alias Naem Soomro escaped from the scene.

However, later the police nabbed him from Makrani railway crossing. Police also recovered arms, live rounds, three motor bikes and valuables from their possession.

The arrested accused during preliminary interrogation admitted that they were part of a gang and were in the area to commit crime. According to the Police spokesman, the arrested accused are also involved in different crime incidents to A Section police. Recently, six armed men had barged in the residence of MPA Kulsoom Chandio’s relatives in the limits of Bhitai Nagar Police Station and held the family hostage at gunpoint. According to police, Khursheed Chandio claimed that robbers took away around Rs700,000 cash and 18 tola gold.
