Police have arrested a woman on suspicion of murdering her brother over being denied her share in property.

The suspect allegedly hacked her brother to death when he was asleep. She was arrested on the basis of a report lodged by Mohammad Tariq, a resident of Chak No. 583GB, who is brother-in-law of the deceased.

He informed the police that his 22-year-old deceased bother-in-law Sadi Ahmed was murdered while he was sleeping at home.

The deceased allegedly had a dispute with his sister Azra Bibi over share in land.

The complainant claimed that Azra, along with one Amina Bibi, severely injured Sadi with a cleaver while he was sleeping. He was rushed to Jaranwala Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Upon receiving the information, Jaranwala DSP Jamshed Nasir Chishti reached the spot. The police took the body into custody and arrested the suspected killer along with the murder weapon.

Police officials said the suspect had asked her brother for her share in agricultural land but he had  and responded abusively.

In another incident, a youth was killed in an armed clash between two groups over a property dispute. Members of the groups led by Irfan and Gulzar opened fire at each other in Chandian Talawan area of Millat Town.

Irfan group's 21-year-old Faizan, son of Ibad Ali, and the rival group's Pervez, son of Jalaluddin, suffered bullet injuries in the clash. They were shifted to Allied Hospital where Faizan died of a gunshot wound in his shoulder.

Millat Town police took the body onto custody.
