Committee expressed anger over theft of hybrid garlic worth Rs130 million from Narc

ISLAMABAD:

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Food Security on Monday recommended the government to set the wheat support price at Rs2,200 per maund.

During the meeting, chaired by committee Chairman Rao Ajmal, Food Minister Syed Fakhr Imam informed the members that the government would announce the support price within a week after consulting all the stakeholders.

The committee expressed anger over the theft of hybrid garlic worth Rs130 million from the National Agricultural Research Centre (Narc). The committee sought a report from the Narc director general about the theft and details of the cultivation of garlic in the country.

The committee unanimously approved the bills pertaining to beekeeping in Islamabad, the honey board, and the Islamabad Poultry Production Regulation.
