HARIPUR:

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Haripur circle on Friday arrested 10 employees of the education department, including a former male district education officer on charges of hiring a teacher and other lower cadre officials on fake credentials.

Tanveer Ahmed Shah, a government school teacher, was among those arrested by the ACE. Tanvir Haider Shah was appointed during 2007 as Theology Teacher in BPS-7 and the intermediate certificate and BA degree he had attached with his credentials, proved to be fake.

The accused teacher and other nine officials had obtained interim bail from the local court. The ACE took the accused into custody after their pre-arrest bail was cancelled.

After about seven years of probe and registration of the case three months ago, the ACE found the said teacher and a district education officer, assistant district officer, office superintendent and six clerks guilty of appointing him on fake documents.

According to the sources, complaints have been lodged with the district administration and officials of the education department about these fake recruitments, but no legal action could be taken against those employees hired on fake orders.

Meanwhile, a case of recruitment on fake documents against a post of Qari teacher in Attockpar had surfaced recently.

Former nazim and social worker Imran Alizai said that dozens of eligible officers have remained deprived of promotions after a large number of people were hired on important posts.

He alleged that politicians allegedly back illegal appointments in the education department for vested interest. He urged the provincial education minister to order an investigation into the illegal appointments in the Haripur education department.
