New programme to help 3.7m families: Haleem

A successful Pakistani programme has been launched to help 3.7 million families alleviate their financial woes and help them stand on their own two feet through a package of Rs1,400 billion, said Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh on Monday.

He added the programme would help alleviate poverty and empower the underprivileged.

The opposition leader said that the incumbent prime minister is Sadiq and Amin and that the opposition leaders were needlessly crying foul over allegations of corruption.

"Pakistanis who have set up illegal offshore companies will be prosecuted and investigated," he said.

"The prime minister had the same stance earlier and today the stance is still the same," he added.

"He who commits corruption will be expelled." Haleem said that when the lockdown was imposed in the coronavirus pandemic, the prime minister announced a package of Rs260 billion for the people.

"Rs12,000 per person was given to the people on a single message without any hindrance," he said.

The opposition leader added that the PM's dream was a Madinastyle welfare system, economic development and prosperous people.

Haleem was accompanied by Balochistan Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Khan Musa, who visited the Sindh Assembly on Monday. Secretary Ghulam Muhammad Omar Farooq Baroro presented an honorary shield to the guest on behalf of the Sindh Assembly speaker.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmakers Raja Azhar, Adiba Hassan, PTI leader Lala Aminullah Musa Khel, Jansher Junejo and others were also present.

Later, speaking to the media, Balochistan Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Khan Musa Khel said that he visited various cities of Sindh and was greeted with love and respect by the people.

"Wherever there are difficulties in Sindh, the PTI leaders are with the people," he said, adding Haleem always raised his voice for the poor people.

"The Sindh Assembly has a long history. The first resolution to create Pakistan was also passed by the Sindh Assembly," Musa said, expressing his pleasure on visiting the Sindh Assembly.

He went on to say that Balochistan was the largest province of Pakistan, where the biggest problem was lack of roads, which was now largely resolved by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

"Development work is being done in Balochistan by the federal government. Roads are being built in Balochistan," the deputy speaker said.
