Pak, Turkish Red Crescent deliver aid to Afghanistan

Rice, flour and other food items were transported via Torkham border

Turkish Red Crescent with the collaboration of Pakistan Red Crescent Society extended food assistance to the Afghan Red Crescent Society at Torkham border.

The food items include rice, flour and other perishable items. On the occasion, Afghan Red Crescent official Ghulam Habib Hasan said this is a very important assistance that is the need of the hour as Afghan people desperately require food.

“We are thankful to the Turkish Red Crescent and Pakistan Red Crescent Society,” Hasan said. “This assistance will be given to the needy people of Afghanistan.” Turkish Head of Red Crescent Delegation Ibrahim Carlos said the Turkish Red Crescent were providing food packages to the Afghan people on a humanitarian basis.

“Afghan people need assistance in food, health and other developmental work and our relief supplies will continue with the Afghan people”, Carlos said. He thanked the Pakistani government as well for the facilitation and support provided by them, adding that due to the Pakistani government’s assistance and support, these food items will reach the needy people in Afghanistan.

On the other hand, the Pakistan government also provided six trucks of food items for the Afghan people on humanitarian grounds. Assistant Commissioner Torkham Akbar Iftikhar provided assistance to Taliban official Mullah Ghazi at Torkham border in this regard. He said they were happy to provide Afghan people with food items.
