CIA police arrest two alleged extortionists

Accused were demanding Rs10m from CPLC deputy chief

The CIA police, on Sunday, claimed to have arrested two suspects for demanding extortion from Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) deputy chief and a transporter.

According to SSP CIA Arif Aziz, unidentified suspects had demanded extortion of Rs10 million from CPLC deputy chief Shabbar Malik, and a transporter and sent death threats in case of failure in making the payment. The Defence police registered a case on Malik's complaint and handed over the investigation to CIA police.

Meanwhile, the suspects called again and demanded the extortion, at which the CIA police while carrying out a swift raid in the DHA arrested two suspects including Ijaz Ali and Farid Khan and recovered weapons and a mobile SIM from their possession.

The suspects were using the SIM to make calls to the complainants.

Police said, both the suspects were habitual criminals and were involved in several incidents of robbery and kidnapping.
