Lyari gang war leader moves court for eye treatment

ATC orders jail superintendent to make arrangements and submit report in this regard

KARACHI:

The arrested Lyari gang war leader Uzair Baloch has moved the court for his eye treatment.

The special anti-terrorism court has ordered the jail superintendent of Karachi Central Jail to make arrangements for his eye treatment.

In a petition filed through his counsel Abid Zaman, Baloch argued that his vision has become very weak. "There is a risk of infection due to weakness and pain. Uzair should be allowed to undergo eye treatment," the counsel argued.

The court directed the jail superintendent central to ensure eye treatment of Uzair. The court also directed the jail superintendent to submit the report of medical facilities of the accused at the next hearing besides seeking his medical report on October 7.

Remand extended

The presiding judge of an accountability court on Saturday extended the physical remand of three former and current NAB officers in an inquiry, pertaining to receiving over Rs10 million in bribes, until October 9.

The NAB had produced former assistant directors Osama Younis, Zainul Abidin and Ijaz Ali Dawach, arrested from Lahore, in the accountability court. The investigation officer told the court that the probe from the suspects had not been completed, requesting the court to extend their physical remand. "The forensic report of the suspects' mobile data has not been received yet," the investigating officer argued.

Accused Osama Younis was arrested in the ongoing inquiry against Assistant Private Secretary, Investigation Wing. Zainul Abidin. Accused Osama Younis allegedly received Rs14 million for closing a NAB inquiry. The suspects are accused of taking millions of rupees in bribes and closing inquiries. The court extended the physical remand of suspects till October 9.
