Police recover kidnapped man near Excise office
With the rise in the incidents of criminal elements infiltrating the police ranks, an official of the excise police was found hiding a man he had allegedly kidnapped for ransom at one of the safest places in the city, the office of the director general of the excise department.
Police claimed to have recovered a kidnapped trader, Ali Hussain Afridi, from outside the office of Excise and Taxation director general on the II Chundrigar Road.
Three kidnappers, including an excise policeman, were arrested during the raid. The arrested kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs2 million from the family of the abductee, said Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) Chief SP Maroof Usman.

The West Zone Police had transferred the investigation of the case to AVCC, said SP Usman adding that the kidnappers had demanded delivery of ransom money outside the Excise DG office.
During the raid, the police rescued Afridi and arrested three alleged kidnappers including Jan Muhammad, Abdul Khaliq and Yaseen Nazar. Among the arrested suspect Jan Muhammad is an excise policeman.
West district SSP Shuai Aziz Talpur said the kidnapping for ransom case was transferred to AVCC. She said the case was registered a the Peerabad Police Station, however, the arrests were made within the limits of Mithadar Police Station.
After the raid, the abducted trader and the arrested kidnappers were first taken to Mithadar Police Station and then shifted to Peerabad police station. SP Usman told The Express Tribune that as per the complaint six suspects including a woman came to Ali Hussain Afridi’s house and abducted him.
