Alleged killer of father-in-law arrested in capital

Accused was declared proclaimed offender by court, according to police

A man who was on the run after killing his father-in-law and injuring his wife over a domestic feud was arrested from Islamabad on Saturday.

The suspect, Khalid Mehmood, had gunned down his 55-year-old father-in-law, Khan Afsar, and injured his wife in Doyan Abi area of Haripur. After committing the crime, the suspect had fled. The police had registered a case against him.

Haripur Investigation SP Mujibur Rehman had devised a strategy and successfully booked the suspect from Islamabad. He said that they formed a special team to conduct raids in different areas and nabbed the suspect from the federal capital.

Meanwhile, the police arrested a suspect who looted and assaulted a female polio worker in Noor Colony over two weeks ago. Vaccinator, Shehnaz Akhtar, lodged a complaint with the police stating that while she was returning to the office after vaccinating children along with a co-worker, Nighat Bibi, when two motorcyclists wearing masks intercepted them and snatched jewellery and a ring from her at gunpoint.

The police had registered a case against unidentified suspects and related police officials were instructed to arrest the offenders at the earliest. City police station SHO, TIP picket in-charge were assigned the duty to trace and arrest the suspects.
