Three more patients succumb to coronavirus

In Pindi, markets and bazaars will now remain closed on Fridays instead of Sundays

Three more patients lost their lives to Covid-19 in Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours. At least 41 new positive cases were reported in the district on Friday.

According to the daily situation report issued by the District Health Authority, among the new cases, 11 hailed from Rawalpindi Cantonment, eight from Kalar Syedan, seven each from Rawal and Potohar towns, three each from Gujar Khan and Taxila while one each case was reported from Murree and Islamabad.

At present, 38 coronavirus positive patients were admitted to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 27 to the Institute of Urology, 14 to Fauji Foundation Hospital, four to Holy Family Hospital and one to Bilal Hospital, said the report. It added that five patients were on ventilators and in critical condition, 53 stable and 26 on oxygen support.

As many as 2,682,695 people, including 42,363 health workers, have jabbed themselves so far against the lethal coronavirus while the positivity ratio during the past 24 hours was recorded at 2.9 per cent in the district, it added.

Weekly lockdown on Fridays

To curb the spread of Covid-19, the weekly day off for business centres and markets in Rawalpindi has been changed. Markets and bazaars will now remain closed on Fridays instead of Sundays.

Coronavirus cases have considerably decreased in the Hazara region with 61 active cases in Abbottabad and 111 in the district Manshera.

In district Abbottabad, 7,665 coronavirus patients have recovered, 362 died while 1,294,204 have so far been carried out. The district health office Abbottabad also conducted sampling in 315 educational institutions, where a total of 765 coronavirus positive cases surfaced. A total of 4,501 teachers screened and 14,545 were screened for the Covid-19 virus.

The district administration and health department had imposed smart lockdown at 1891 places, including in 26 offices and commercial buildings.

In district Mansehra, so far 140,090 coronavirus tests have been conducted and of them, 131,231 people were declared negative for the virus. During the last 24 hours, only two new coronavirus cases were registered in district Mansehra.

According to the health department of Mansehra, in tehsil Mansehra 61 active cases have been registered, in tehsil Oghi five, in Balakot 14 and in tehsil Baffa Pakhal 13.

Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided a market near the Haripur DPO office and arrested two people for issuing fake coronavirus vaccination certificates.

FIA officials said that they raided Metro Lab and arrested the owner, Khushdal Younis, and his son Zulfiqar for issuing fake coronavirus certificates.
