‘Low-income segment to benefit from Punjab Mazdur Card’

Buzdar says card will also be used for medical treatment at hospitals

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said the Mazdur Card could be utilised for different purposes including treatment in the hospitals managed by the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) and government as well as private medical institutions on the panel.

The chief minister expressed these views at an MoU-signing ceremony between Punjab Employees Social Security Institutions and Bank of Punjab for the issuance of Punjab Mazdur Card to 1.1 million labourers.

Earlier, the CM inaugurated the automation system of Rehmatul-lil-Alameen Institute of Cardiology of social security hospital by unveiling the plaque and inspected its various sections.

He was told that patients will not be required to bring their medical reports or documents to this first paperless government hospital.

Addressing the ceremony, the CM appreciated the automation system and announced to gradually automatise government hospitals across the province.

“The recipients of the card could benefit from 11 cash benefits and the registered workers would be able to avail of housing, employment, Ahsas, Kamiyab Noujawan and other initiatives of the government,” he said. The labourers will also be given discounts through the Mazdur Card, he added.

The CM asserted that workers welfare was among the priority agenda and the government was striving hard for the welfare of the lowest strata. The labourers play important role in the development process and provision of facilities was their right, concluded the CM.
