SUKKUR:

A 15-year-old boy has been left in a coma, allegedly after he was tortured by the police at Mirpur Mathelo police station.

Three days ago the Mirpur Mathelo police arrested a student of class IX, Shah Zaib, on the charge of kidnapping one of his classmates, Khalil Kalwar. Shah Zaib’s father, Amanullah Gill, who is a labourer, said that three days ago the police arrested his young son and locked him up. He claimed that his son was innocent and that police tortured Shah Zaib mercilessly, due to which the boy has lost his senses.

Mirpur Mathelo head constable Manzoor Ali said that Shah Zaib was implicated in the FIR and therefore the police arrested him Monday morning.

He denied that he was tortured and said that he was suffering from a fever which is why the police took him to a private hospital for a check-up.

Khalil Kalwar was reported to have returned home Monday morning. He told journalists that he had not been kidnapped and had in fact gone out of city with his friends.
