WHO donates vehicles, supplies to Sindh
The World Health Organisation (WHO) handed over on Monday medical vehicles and equipment to the Sindh Health Department in a ceremony attended by provincial health minister Dr Azra Pechuho
The facilities were handed over by WHO Pakistan Representative Dr Palitha Mahipala.
WHO gifted 25 motorcycles for high-risk union councils that are difficult to access for other modes of transport.
These motorcycles are fixed with a top box to carry supplies and will be able to reach populations of those UCs that have not been vaccinated.
The minister and WHO representative also inaugurated a Covid vaccination drive that provides mobile access especially to refugees in five districts of Karachi.
The drive will cater to all those who are unable to get vaccinated through the regular process.
One fully equipped and customised ambulance was also gifted by WHO to the Sindh health department for DHO West. There was also IT equipment and supplies for integrated disease surveillance and response. Dr Pechuho also spoke to WHO representative Dr Palitha Mahipala about the ongoing progress in launching telehealth and telemedicine.
