Gohar Rasheed wants you to normalise PDA between spouses
Actors Gohar Rasheed and Sarah Khan are currently playing a married couple in the recent drama serial, Laapata. The actors have garnered praise for their outstanding performances in the show from fans and critics alike. Rasheed plays Daniyal, an abusive husband while Sarah plays Falak, a woman who wouldn't deal with abuse lightly.
A certain scene in the show had kick-started a debate surrounding showing violence onscreen. However, in a recent interview with a local publication, the Ishqiya star had shared his experience of working with Sarah. Rasheed, while singing praises about his co-star's acting prowess and professionalism, also lauded the latter's husband for normalising 'romancing his wife.'
"Sarah Khan is a beautiful person on and off-camera. Falak Shabbir is one lucky man. If I am honest, if I ever get married, I will be exactly like him [with my wife]. He has inspired me so much," Rasheed commented, adding, "There should be husbands like Falak, who isn't afraid to express their feelings. What are we so afraid of? Why do we always hold back? Why can't men express themselves however they please? Why is PDA (public display of affection) so frowned upon?"
The actor went on to relay, "We have normalised everything else. Falak would often visit the sets and the way he would look after Sarah is awe-inspiring. He's so careful, so responsible with Sarah that I can't help but praise him."
Previously, Khan had explained the reason for sharing cheesy photos every now and then in an interview with BBC Urdu. “While we were getting married, we shared everything online. We want to share all our happy moments with our fans. We often highlight the negativities of men on social media," she had told the publication. "But I want to show people that some men are also like Falak, who love their wives unconditionally. I also want people to see that this is how men should behave with their wives. Even if he gives me a single flower – which may mean nothing to anyone – I want to post about it."
