Renowned TV star Talat Iqbal passes away
Renowned actor Talat Iqbal has passed away in Dallas, Express PK reported on Friday. The news of the popular PTV star's death was confirmed by the family. According to sources, Iqbal has been on the ventilator for a while due to worsening health.
The actor had been living with his family in Texas, United States, for a while now. His funeral will take place after Jummah's prayers today.
Iqbal and his wife Sumbul Iqbal were touted to be the famous onscreen and offscreen couple back in the day. The actor started his career with Radio Pakistan in 1968. He then went on to work in multiple dramas such as Shikast Aarzu, Do Duni Paanch, Aakhri Chatan, Aabgeenay, Kaif-e-Baharan, Karvaan and Ab Dekh Khuda Kya Karta Hai. Iqbal moved to the United States with his family in 1999. During this time, Talat Iqbal visited Pakistan several times. A few days ago, his daughter Sarah passed away and an insider shared the same shock played a vital part in his worsening condition.
Culture Minister for Punjab Khayal Ahmed Castro also expressed grief over the demise of the leading actor. The Culture Minister extended heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family. "The late Talat Iqbal was an excellent actor," Khayal Castro shared. "Fans have not forgotten Talat Iqbal's memorable TV dramas even today. May Allah Almighty place the soul of the deceased in mercy and grant patience to the bereaved family."
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar too expressed condolences to the family. "Talat Iqbal was a versatile and experienced actor," the CM commented. Many took to social media and remembered Iqbal as a seasoned actor.
"Prayers for his peace. What a handsome man and a fine actor. PTV lost another gem from its amazing history," a user penned, while another shared, "Veteran actor Talat Iqbal passes away. Talat Iqbal played key roles in several PTV dramas in the 70s and 80s. He also starred in several Pakistani films during his long career. He had an impressive acting career in the 70s & 80s and his wife Sumbul Talat was also an acclaimed person."
