Punjab Minister for Women Development Ashifa Riaz Fatyana inaugurated a day care centre in Taunsa Sharif, a district of Dera Ghazi Khan on Thursday.
She said 221 such facilities are now functional across the province to help working women perform duty without worrying about their kids.
The minister visited different parts of the centre after its opening, met the staff and evaluated the level of facilities.
Punjab Women Development Secretary Ambreen Raza, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Taunsa Muhammad Asad Chandia, and Medical Superintendent (MS) THQ hospital Dr Tahir Hussain gave briefing to the minister during the visit.
“Children of employed women would get a home-like atmosphere at the day care and more facilities would be added later on as per requirement of the area,” she stated.

Speaking on the occasion, Fatyana said protecting women and safeguarding their rights is extremely important to build a strong and prosperous society.
“As per the vision of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, we will pave way to an inclusive and caring social infrastructure,” the minister underscored.
She also said that the centres would focus on training and education of the children besides providing primary care when their mothers are busy at work.
“Toys and swings would be there for the amusement of kids and a nanny would look after them.”
The minister was informed that two rooms of gynaecology ward of THQ hospital have been allocated for the centre temporarily.
