Coronavirus claims 42 more lives in Punjab
The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 42 more lives in Punjab. Reportedly, 880 fresh infections were reported during the past 24 hours.
According to the data, shared by Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch on Tuesday, the death toll due to the pandemic reached 12,447 and the total number of virus cases in Punjab exceeded 423,670, while 389,497 patients had recovered from the virus so far. As per the data provided by the P&SHD, currently 21,727 patients were under treatment in different hospitals across Punjab. The provincial health department conducted 18,198 tests for Covid-19 during the past 24 hours.
Reportedly a total of 11 persons succumbed to the coronavirus in the provincial capital over the past 24 hours. The P&SHD secretary confirmed that in the last 24 hours, 439 virus cases were reported in Lahore, 57 in Rawalpindi, 32 cases were reported in Faisalabad, 31 in Multan, 28 cases each were reported in Dera Ghazi Khan and Mianwali, 25 cases were reported in Kasur, 21 cases were reported in Okara and 20 in Rahim Yar Khan.
Moreover, 17 Covid-19 cases each were reported in Toba Tek Singh and Bahawalpur, 13 cases were reported in Sialkot, 12 cases were reported in Khushab, nine cases each were reported in Sargodha, Rajanpur and Pakpattan, eight cases each were reported in Muzaffargarh and Sheikhupura, seven cases were reported in Bahawalnagar, six cases each were reported in Vehari, Sahiwal and Gujarat, five cases each were reported in Hafizabad, Narowal and Nankana Sahib while four cases each were reported in Mandi Bahauddin and 3 in Lodhran. Speaking about the positivity ratio across Punjab, the provincial health department secretary said the overall positivity rating was 4.8% in all major cities of the province.
He added that a rate of 7.2% was recorded in the provincial capital, 6.3% was recorded in Rawalpindi, 6% in Faisalabad, 7.9% in Multan and 2.8% in Gujranwala.
