Residents of Jhamra village in Ghazi Union Council Kothara on Friday protested against the dilapidated condition of a road.
The protesters and residents of Jhamra, a four-kilometre stretch from Ghazi interchange, said that incidents and deaths have become a common occurrence because of the pathetic condition of the road. They said that Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Omar Ayub Khan had laid the foundation of the link road worth over Rs30 million on January 24, but no work could be started.
The villagers said that though the approval of the fund for construction of the road was commendable, there was a dire need to mettle it at the earliest.

The villagers said that owing to the poor condition of the road; they were facing it difficult to take patients to the hospital and most patients die on the way. They said that the bumpy road also cause damage to vehicles. The residents demanded of the high authorities to ensure its construction at the earliest.
When contacted, MNA Umar Ayub Khan’s secretary Naeem Khan said that because of its proximity to the motorway, the road was being completed under the supervision of Punjab Highway Division One. He said that the road construction has been delayed because of some legal and technical reasons. “MNA Omar Ayub will talk to the authorities concerned to ensure the construction of the road soon,” he said.
