The office bearers at the union council level of PTI Rawalpindi have demanded that party’s lawmakers and big guns should step down after the party’s defeat in the Rawalpindi and Chaklala cantonment boards elections.
The Rawalpindi body of the party has also approved a motion to boycott the officials until redressal of their grievances. A convention of the district body will also be organised within the next 15 days.
PTI Rawalpindi District President Shaheryar Riaz chaired a meeting that approved a resolution signed by him and 24 other officials, which included all representatives of the district organisation and members of the governing body. A copy of the resolution has also been sent to PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Chief Organiser Saifullah Niazi.
The resolution said that the Rawalpindi organisation was completely ignored in cantonment board elections in issuing party tickets, conducting election campaigns, and holding public meetings.

It added that the convention will determine the responsibility of the results in the cantonment elections and also determine the authority of the governing body of the district organisation and elected members of the assembly.
The resolution demanded the abuse of power by lawmakers in party affairs be stopped and the party constitution implemented in letter and spirit.
It said the party’s organisation officials must step down on ignoring party workers in the process of issuing tickets, take the responsibility for PTI’s electoral defeat and damaging the party’s image.
The resolution said the boycott of the officials responsible for the election defeat will continue until the party leadership issued a clear direction.
