55 artisans came together for Minal Khan's stunning bridal dress

Designer Annus Abrar took to Instagram to share the painstaking process of making the handcrafted outfit

Minal Khan and Ahsan Mohsin Ikram’s wedding has been the talk of the town over the past week, with the bride’s looks taking centre stage in most discussions about the festivities. For the baraat, the starlet donned a heavily embellished cranberry-coloured traditional bridal pishwas, complete with gold detailing. The pishwas was paired with a floor-sweeping farshi lehenga to add a touch of royalty to the look.

The designer of the dress, Annus Abrar, took to Instagram to share the painstaking process of bringing the dress from the drawing board to life. Sharing pictures of Minal in the dress, the designer wrote, “Minal looks like a dream in a floor-length pishwas paired with farshi lehenga in shades of raspberry pink and red incorporated with handcrafted zardozi and kamdani detailing.”

Sharing pictures of artisans carefully embellishing the dress, the designer wrote, “Making of Minal’s bridal. Stunning shade of cranberry red with deep maroon applique incorporated with kamdani and zardozi."

Specifying that the pishwas contained 38 kalis [panels], which helped give it the perfect volume for twirling, the designer shared that it took more than 55 artists to complete the dress. “Over 55 artists worked day and night to create this magical piece of couture”, adding that it “takes a creative village” in their next story.

The wedding, which took place on September 10, was a star-studded affair. The event saw the couple dressed to the T. Minal donned the exquisite red number designed by Abrar as she twirled for pictures, looking stunning. The actor paired her ensemble with jewellery by Ali Javeri Jewellers, while Ahsan looked dapper in a suit by Ismail Farid.
