Jamia Islamia Makhzan-ul-Uloom Banaras won the Inter-Madrassa Pakistan Defence Day T10 Tournament organised by Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium in Karachi.
Student teams of 16 madrassas, belonging to different schools of thought, participated in the event, according to a press release issued by Pakistan Rangers (Sindh).
DG Rangers Sindh Major General Iftikhar Hassan Chaudhary was the chief guest at the occasion.
Zubair Motiwala, Patron-in-Chief of SITE Association, prominent personalities from business community, religious scholars, former Test cricketers Sikander Bakht, Saeed Anwar and Mohammed Sami, former Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed, and Mrs Asma Ali Shah also graced the tournament with their presence.
Jamia Islamia Makhzan-ul-Uloom Banaras clinched the trophy after a thrilling contest.
DG Rangers Sindh and other guests presented trophies, medals and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up during the prize distribution ceremony.
Major General Iftikhar thanked the administration of Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, particularly Asma Ali Shah, for constructing the stadium for the residents of North Nazimabad. He also lauded the enthusiasm and performance of all the participating teams.
Participants and guests praised Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) for promoting sports and for providing foolproof security during the event.
