Reema narrates 'disturbing' ordeal of displaced Afghans after husband's encounter with refugees

In an appreciation post for her husband, actor recollected the crux of the stories he told her about displaced Afghans

After reuniting with her husband Dr Syed Tariq upon his return from Doha, veteran actor Reema has shed light on the ‘disturbing’ situation of Afghan refugees.

Reema took to her Instagram to share pictures from her husband’s flight, alongside which, she detailed the “horrifying and anxious look” on the faces of the Afghan refugees, who didn’t where they were headed.

“Thank God my husband is back from Doha safe and sound. However, what he told me about the refugees is very disturbing,” wrote the Nikkah star. “Infants, toddlers, pregnant women and elderly had to stand in 105 degree for hours to get on the plane,” she added.

“Although I am relieved that he is home, it perturbs me to know that the Afghan refugees were worried and distressed,” continued the actor, “not to know where they were headed and what their future holds.”

Five days ago, she posted photos of her husband from his flight to Qatar and captioned it saying, “My husband is on his way to Doha with Team-USA to help take care of the Afghan refugees. I am very proud of him for his dedication, hard work and sacrifice. And I pray to Allah that he has a very safe and successful trip Ameen.”

The US government had sent Tariq to Doha to look after the displaced Afghans, who had fled their country – post the Taliban takeover – to find refuge elsewhere.
