13 killed in 926 road crashes

The majority of accidents, around 70 per cent, involved motorcycles

At least 13 people were killed whereas 991 were injured in 926 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the past 24 hours.

Out of the injured victims, 554 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals whereas 437 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site.

The majority of accidents, around 70 per cent, involved motorcycles. Further, the analysis showed that 428 drivers, 46 underage drivers, 93 pedestrians, and 483 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

The statistics showed that 261 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 280 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 89 in Faisalabad with 95 victims and at third Gujranwala with 70 RTCs and 70 victims.

The details further revealed that 1004 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 815 male & 189 female victims. The age group of the victims showed that 166 were under 18 years of age, 551 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 287 victims were reported to be above 40 years of age.

According to the data 789 motorcycles were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
