Coalmine policy for Balochistan on the cards

Principal Secretary to the Balochistan Chief Minister Asfandyar Khan on Monday said work on the coal mines policy was underway that included construction of a mineral complex in Quetta and establishment of a Mines Rescue Center apart from work on mapping projects.

He was addressing a meeting at the CM Secretariat regarding the progress on new and ongoing development projects included in the PSDP of the Department of Minerals and mineral development for the current financial year.

During the briefing, Asfandyar said the development programme for the current financial year includes a total of 16 projects including 10 ongoing projects and six new schemes.

He highlighted that this is the first time in the history of Balochistan that the implementation of Geo Resource Survey and Mines Labarotory project is being ensured which will lead to the development of the mining sector.

The principal secretary to the CM told the participants of the meeting that a feasibility study was being carried out at a cost of Rs300 million for the establishment of a metal park in Balochistan under the federal PSDP.

The meeting was also informed about issues related to the Balochistan Mineral Resources Limited.

Asfandyar was of the view that a timeline be set for the submission of quarterly reports on ongoing and new development projects of the Minerals Department and timely completion of these projects.
