Kashmir observes black day on India's Independence
Indian authorities increase security in Srinagar, other towns to prevent anti-India demonstrations.

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over are observing the Indian day of independence on Monday as a ‘black day’.
Strike calls were given by All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, veteran Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Geelani and other Kashmiri leaders, Kashmir Media Service reported.
The leaders said the strike was being observed to convey the message to New Delhi that it has no moral justification to celebrate its independence day as long as it continues to deny the Kashmiri people their inalienable right of self-determination.
