Envoy for deepening trade with OIC
Pakistan’s business community should focus on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries to promote trade and exports, said Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the OIC Rizwan Saeed Sheikh. While interacting with entrepreneurs at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Monday, he said that the OIC region was the largest bloc in the world consisting of 57 countries, a collective population of over 1.5 billion people and a GDP of over $4.5 trillion. “Pakistan has a huge potential to export many products to the OIC countries including rice, mangoes, dairy products, fresh vegetables, fruits, sports goods and surgical instruments,” he said. Sheikh pointed out that OIC Trade Fair was due to be held in Pakistan in 2022. Speaking on the occasion, ICCI President Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan said that Pakistan enjoyed strong political relations with all Muslim countries and they should be transformed into growing trade and investment ties.
