Soldier martyred in South Waziristan IED explosion
A soldier of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded during an area clearance operation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's South Waziristan district, the military said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a fleeing terrorist was killed during the exchange of fire between the terrorists and the security forces in South Waziristan's Asman Manza area.
"Troops immediately cordoned off the area to apprehend the terrorists involved in planting the IED," it added.

The martyred soldier was identified as Sepoy Wajid Ullah, 25-year-old, resident of Karak.
On August 14, a paramilitary soldier was martyred while two others were injured in an attack on a Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle near Loralai, Balochistan.

In an exchange of fire, Naik Sharif embraced martyrdom while Major Qasim and a soldier were injured. The ISPR said at least three militants were also killed in retaliatory firing by FC personnel.
In June, at least five FC men were martyred in a terrorist attack in the Sibi district of Balochistan. The FC men, deployed in the mountainous area of Sangan, located between Sibi and Harnai districts, had come under attack while patrolling.
