Highway crimes drop by 90%, claims AIG
Punjab Highway Patrol AIG has claimed that the crime graph on highways across the province has dropped by 90 per cent while 192 children were reunited with their families in the past 18 months.
While talking to The Express Tribune, Punjab Highway Patrol Additional Inspector General (AIG) Muhammad Akram Naeem Bharoka said that the rapid response by the police saved many precious lives while the percentage of accidents has dropped significantly as well.

The official said that Punjab Highway Patrol is starting a special campaign against drugs under the theme of ‘Drug-Free Punjab”. Bharoka said that the idea behind the formation of the force was to make travelling on highways safe and secure not only during daytime but night.
He maintained that there are 364 patrolling posts on the highways across Punjab every 30-35 kilometres (kms). Each post has 30 personnel with a patrolling vehicle, he added.
