KARACHI:

Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Haleem Adil Sheikh strongly deplored the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh government on Wednesday for neglecting Karachi during its 13-year rule in the province.

In a statement issued on the day, Haleem said that not a single penny from the revenue, generated through taxes and duties from the city, was spent here.

He said that those who infected their stronghold Larkana with AIDS were now transmitting the deadly disease to Karachi that was already suffering due to their policies of corruption and illegal accumulation of wealth.

The leader of the opposition maintained that PPP government has pushed Karachi into the list of ten worst cities of the world and kept the city under oppression.

The responsibilities of cleaning gutters and garbage disposal had also been shifted from the city government to the chief minister, he said, adding that Sindh government wanted to mint money even from garbage and gutters. "Sindh government has no control over the air, otherwise they would have started charging tax on it," he mentioned.

Now a rejected person is appointed as an administrator who is also a spokesman and an adviser as well, said Haleem, alleging that the budget of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, district municipal corporations will start pouring into fake accounts.

Haleem said PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari should be a little ashamed of his white lies as out of Rs1,100 billion Karachi uplift package around Rs600 billion were to be provided by the federal government while remaining amount of over Rs400 billion by the Sindh government.

The federation is working on K-IV under the package and work on Karachi Circular Railway terminal has also started while Green Line buses will be seen on the roads of Karachi in October, said Haleem, adding that the PPP government, in its 13-year-long rule in Sindh, has given neither a single bus to the largest city nor a drop of water.
