ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has refuted a news report pertaining to postponement of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa local government elections for a year.

“It was untrue to hold the ECP responsible for delaying local government elections or agreeing to any such delay,” an ECP spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday.

He strongly denied the news report attributed to K-P assembly speaker wherein the speaker had reportedly said that the ECP has agreed to a provincial government’s proposal to postpone the LG elections in the province for a year as the elections were not possible until next year due to the arising Afghan situation.
