Police recover several stolen motorbikes, money

ISLAMABAD:

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of the Islamabad police held a wanted member of a bike lifting gang and recovered 18 stolen motorcycles worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from him, said SSP (Operations) Dr Syed Mustafa Tanweer on Tuesday.

Following orders of Inspector General of Police Qazi Jamilur Rehman, DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar assigned a special task to CIA police to curb car and motorbike lifting and to arrest the suspects involved in it.

The special team, under the supervision of SSP Investigation Ataur Rehman, headed by CIA DSP Hakim Khan raided an area in Faizabad and succeeded to apprehend a suspect allegedly a member of a bike-lifting gang identified as Mohsin Ali.

After conducting investigations, police recovered 18 stolen motorbikes from him. During the preliminary investigation, he confessed to having lifted these motorcycles from various areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi and sold them at cheaper rates.

A police spokesperson pointed out that the suspect was involved in seven cases of bike lifting in Industrial-Area, Aabpara, and other areas while further investigation is underway from him for more recovery of motorbikes.

IGP Islamabad has appreciated the performance of the team and announced rewards.
