Nomi Ansari wants PR firms to stop harassing him for free promotions

Ace fashion maven has penned a note for PR personnel expecting him to promote products for free.

Ace designer Nomi Ansari has had enough of PR companies sending him packages solely for the sake of free promotions and has urged them to refrain from the practice.

He went on to ask such PR personnel to “stop harassing him” if he has chosen not to post pictures of the ‘gifts’ they sent him out of their own free will.

Taking to his Insta stories, the designer penned down, “Dear PR Companies, simple request, not to send me PR packages if you are sending them for me to post pictures of, or just delete me off the list and make things easier for yourself and me.”

He continued, “Please do not send me anything with the entitlement that I will be posting it. And especially, do not harass me constantly over WhatsApp and phone calls for free promotional posts.”

Where speedy digitalisation and rising social media platforms have opened doors to countless opportunities, one phenomenon that has gained traction in Pakistan over the past decade is influencer marketing.

There are many categories of influencers, ranging from bloggers, vloggers, tech influencers, YouTubers, Instagram models and life style influencers. And to monetize from such self-created platforms, brands have started marketing their products via hired influencers.

But only emerging influencers benefit from promoting products for free, while celebrities, designers and models, often only accept products they wish to promote or are being paid to promote. Thus, it is understandable why Ansari would feel exploited or annoyed.

In December, the fashion maven designed uniforms for the crew of AirSial, a domestic airline.
