Police arrest 92 in TikToker harassment case

IGP says police teams carried out raids in Faisalabad, Kasur and Sheikhupura overnight.

Punjab Police has arrested at least 92 suspects in the Minar-e-Pakistan TikToker girl harassment case.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani said on Sunday that police teams carried out raids in Faisalabad, Kasur and Sheikhupura overnight and arrested 26 suspects.

Police have so far interrogated 407 suspects in connection with the incident, of whom 92 have been arrested while the rest have been released.

Of the arrested suspects, 40 have been sent to jail for identification parade, while another 30 will be sent on Monday.

The official added that the police were working day and night to trace the suspects through geo-fencing, NADRA record, CCTV footage and other evidence. With the help of modern technology, the suspects were being arrested from several districts.

The IG directed the officers to intensify efforts to identify the remaining suspects and arrest them as soon as possible.

He said the best possible steps were being taken to ensure the safety of women and strict legal action would be taken against the perpetrators of harassment, violence and abuse against women in all cases.
