‘Honour’ killing: Woman strangled by neighbor

KHANPUR: A woman was strangled by her neighbour in the village of Kot Samaba on Sunday morning.  According to police officials, Muhammad Shafi’s neighbour Shaukat Pahor and his two accomplices came to the latter’s house at Mauza Kundey Wali as a guest. While Shafi was out of his house, he returned and found his wife Soni Mai dead with a cloth gagged in her mouth. Shafi called the police and the police had fled the scene.  On receiving information, Kot Samabad police rushed to the spot and arrested the accused Shaukat, Asghar alias Kala and Muzammal from the area. Shaukat said that he had killed Soni Mai because he knew she was having an affair. Locals said that Shaukat had sought an invitation at Shafi’s house to kill his wife after she had been cheating on her husband with one of Shaukat’s friends.
