Seven Pindi tehsils get Rs192m uplift funds

The provincial government has approved Rs192 million development funds for development schemes in 7 tehsils of Rawalpindi district.

Under the development scheme, each tehsil had been allocated funds according to the population and the number of union councils.

Under the scheme, Gujar Khan, the biggest tehsil in terms of population and union councils, has been allocated development funds of Rs300.

The total population of Gujar Khan Tehsil has increased to 565,000, while the number of union councils has also increased to 34.

Rawalpindi, the status of the second largest tehsil of the district, has got Rs210 million. Earlier, Rawalpindi was the largest tehsil in terms of population and union councils.

The population of Rawalpindi tehsil is 343,000 while the number of union councils has come down to 19.

Murree has become the third-largest tehsil of the district with a population of 211,000, including 10 union councils. Development funds of Rs100 million have been earmarked for Murree tehsil.

Development funds of Rs100 million have been allocated for Kalar Syedan tehsil, which has a population of 162,000 and nine union councils. Similarly, 800 million has been allocated for Kahuta tehsil, which has a population of 160,000, and 8 union councils.

Kotli Satyan has become the smallest tehsil in Rawalpindi, with a total population of only 90,000 and six union councils. A total of Rs50 million development funds has been allocated for the smallest tehsil.
