Cities across Sindh display national fervour
The 75th independence day of Pakistan was celebrated with the usual national fervor and enthusiasm in all cities of Sindh on Saturday. While the government departments organized flag raising ceremonies, the political and religious parties as well as the groups of young people took out rallies.
The buildings were illuminated and the roads and streets were decorated with fliers and buntings. In Hyderabad dozens of young men were injured after falling from motorbikes during late night rallies.
The central flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Secretariat of Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) where the school students delivered speeches and sang national songs. The Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Muhammad Abbas Baloch said God willing Pakistan would remain independent forever.
The commissioner, DIG and DC also distributed sweets and other gifts among patients at Sir CJ Hospital of Psychiatry, inmates of the Central Jail and the women and orphans at Darul Aman.
The National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP) marked the day by distributing the national flags, first aid boxes and sweets to the people travelling on the highways. A ceremony was also held at the zonal office in Jamshoro.
Sukkur IBA University celebrated the day by organizing the ceremony where vice chancellor Prof Dr Syed Mir Muhammad Shah raised the national flag.
In Larkana, the official flag-hoisting event took place at the municipal stadium.
The commissioner Mirpurkhas Syed Aijaz Ali Shah and DIG Zulfiqar Ali Mahar raised the national flag at a ceremony in the district. Likewise in Benazirabad district, the commissioner Nawabshah division Syed Mohsin Ali Shah, DC Abrar Ahmed Jaffar and SSP Saud Magsi hoisted the flag.
