RAWALPINDI:

On the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, a plan for a crackdown against drug smugglers based on intelligence and elements associated with the business has been formed. Federal Minister for Narcotics Control Ijaz Ahmad Shah issued instructions for immediate action on the action plan.

The registration committee of the narcotics ministry decided this in a meeting on Wednesday. Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Director General (DG) General Ghulam Nerojo also briefed the minister in detail about the phased action.

The minister said consultation with institutions and stakeholders has been completed. He added that no leniency should be taken into account during the crackdown on drug dealers.

Shah maintained that the premier will be presented with a detailed report on countrywide action against drug smugglers. He instructed to bring structural changes in the strategy of issuing licences and no objection certificate (NOC) to companies.

The committee also discussed the NOC and the licence under consideration is to ensure that these chemicals are not used or accessible other than in the prescribed use. The minister further issued instructions to monitor the activities of all the companies.
