Soldier martyred as terrorists attack North Waziristan checkpost

Army determined to eliminate terrorism and sacrifices like this further strengthen our resolve, says ISPR

Terrorist on Saturday fired on a military checkpost in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's North Waziristan district, resulting in the martyrdom of a soldier, a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The military’s media wing said that the incident occurred in the Ghariom area of the tribal district, adding that the troops responded to the aggression in a “befitting manner”.

"During the exchange of fire, Sepoy Shahid, age 29 years, resident of Bahawalnagar embraced shahadat," the statement added.

It said that an area clearance operation is being carried out to eliminate the terrorists. "Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve," ISPR further said.

On Monday, another soldier was martyred during a terrorist activity in the same area of North Waziristan.

"Terrorists opened fire on a military post in Ghariom, North Waziristan District," the military's media wing said in a statement.

"Own troops responded in a befitting manner. During exchange of fire, Naik Ghulam Mustafa, age 37 years, resident of Muzaffarabad, embraced shahadat," added the military's media wing.

On July 13, an officer and a soldier of the Army embraced martyrdom during an intense exchange of fire with terrorists in Kurram district, the military had said.

Three terrorists were also killed during the ‘area sanitisation operation’ in the Zewa area of the erstwhile FATA, the ISPR said in a statement.
