Akbar Ayub is the fourth cabinet member to bow out this year

Yet another cabinet member, Local Government and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Akbar Ayub Khan, has been removed from cabinet by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan allegedly over his poor performance.

Talking to reporters, Kamran Bangash said that Akbar Ayub had tendered his resignation which was sent to the chief minister which has been accepted.

“Following the acceptance of the resignation, he has been de-notified as minister,” claimed Bangash, saying that Ayub had tendered his resignation citing his bad health and political engagements within his constituency.

It is worth noting here that in the recent past Social Welfare Minister Hisham Inamullah was also removed in a similar fashion. Advisor to Chief Minister on Revenue Qalander Khan Lodhi was also removed with Hisham Inamullah. Lodhi had previously been de-notified as Food Minister and made advisor to CM.

Lodhi had won his seat as an independent candidate and later joined PTI and had been made part of the cabinet.

Similarly, the portfolio of Hisham Inamullah had been changed in the past from Health Minister to Revenue Minister and was later removed from the cabinet altogether. He blamed Governor Shah Farman and Federal Minister Inamullah Gandapur for his removal and openly claimed in his letter to CM that they both had grudges against him.

Even before the removal of Hisham Inamullah and Qalander Lodhi, in April Advisor to CM on Information Technology Ziaullah Bangash had been asked to resign from his post reportedly over his bad performance.

Sources told The Express Tribune that the CM was not happy with the performance of all these men removed from the cabinet this year as some of them had been accused of not going to offices on a daily basis and others were blamed for recruiting people from their own constituency only.

“There is a possibility that with the removal of these men, now new members could be made part of the cabinet which will happen in the near future. But being a minister is not easy in K-P as they could be removed any time if CM and PM is not happy with their performance,” he said.

Akbar Ayub previously was the Education Minister and even before that he was given the portfolio of CNW.
