Rawalpindi reports 8 more Covid deaths
Eight Covid positive patients lost their lives during the past 24 hours in Rawalpindi while it was also reported that those who had been vaccinated have contracted the virus again, a spokesperson said on Thursday. Some 48 patients who were administered the first dose of the vaccine and six who were fully immunised have contracted the virus again, he added.
As many as 1,439,189 people including 38,069 health workers and 1,401,120 senior citizens have jabbed themselves so far against the lethal virus from 23 centres, operating across the district since the vaccination drive began on March 10.
According to data shared by the district administration, 119 more Covid-19 cases were reported during the last 24 hours, raising the tally of confirmed cases to 29,925 in the district. As per the latest data, 32 cases were reported from Rawal Town, 26 from Potohar town, 27 from Rawalpindi Cantt, seven from Gujar Khan, four from Kahuta, two from Taxila, six from AJK, four from Islamabad, three from Chakwal, two from Abbottabad and one each from Kallar Syedan, Kotli Sattian and Murree.

Presently, 199 confirmed patients were admitted to various facilities with 35 at Holy Family Hospital, 32 at Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 63 at Institute of Urology, 57 at Fauji Foundation Hospital, four at Begum Akhtar Memorial Trust, three at District Headquarter hospital, two at Attock and Hearts International Hospital and one at Bilal hospital, the health authority report stated.
The authority further updated that so far 27,397 patients were discharged after making a recovery while 2,898 were quarantined with 1,611 at home and 1,287 in isolation wards.
The report stated that four patients were on ventilators in critical condition, 74 were stable and 121 were being administered oxygen. It added that the positivity ratio was recorded at 8.96 per cent.
Meanwhile, the number of infected patients in Islamabad has doubled during the past 10 days. The number of active cases in the federal capital has reached 4,392 while ten days ago, the toll was 2,248.
However, only 288 patients are admitted to the private and public hospitals of Islamabad while the remaining are under self-isolation. As of now, 251 patients are on oxygen support while 37 are on ventilators.
