ATC to hear final arguments in Perween Rahman murder case
An anti-terrorism court sought the completion of arguments from lawyers at the next hearing of the Perween Rehman murder case.
The court was hearing a petition seeking the recording of the statements of the five joint-investigation teams' key witnesses in the case against the murder of the late Orangi Pilot Project director.
During the hearing, the accused pleaded not guilty. They contended that the JITs constituted were not acceptable as none of the witnesses were assessed.
The court recorded the statements of the accused and adjourned the hearing till August 9. Rehman was killed in 2013 allegedly by Rahim Swati, Imran Swati, Ahmed Khan, Amjad Hussain and Ayaz Swati.

Separately, the administrative judge of an ATC sent Inspector Nisar Awan, accused of handing over three Nigerian citizens to kidnappers, to jail on judicial remand.
The judge directed the investigating officer to complete the probe and submit a charge sheet within 14 day.
The Defence Police produced AVCC Inspector Nisar Awan in court. According to them, on November 14, 2020, police rescued three Nigerians from Defence. The Nigerian nationals included Goji Samuel, Mickey Abaruha and Anorum Emeka. The accused policeman allegedly handed over the recovered Nigerians to the kidnappers for Rs7 million. The foreign nationals are still missing and the accused is yet to be interrogated regarding the recovery of the abductees. Three suspects have been arrested in the case while 12 accused, including the Defence SHO, have been released on bail.
