Protest against alleged extra-judicial killing

QUETTA:

Widespread protests erupted on Saturday against the alleged extra-judicial killing of a youth by Loralai Levies as a large number of local residents and family members took to the streets and blocked Quetta-Ziarat Highway in Ziarat district.

The victim Qabiz Dothani was shot dead by Levies officials the other day near Chin-Jin check post in Loralai. The Levies officials claimed that they tried to intercept two motorcycle snatchers but instead of stopping for checking, they tried to flee on their bike. During the chase, Lavies opened firing at the two men, killing one of them on the spot.

Later the deceased was identified as Qabiz Dothani and his accomplice was arrested in badly injured condition by the authorities.

The news of the death of the bike rider spared like wildfire as local residents and family members after receiving dead body of the slain man staged a protest along-with coffin and blocked the main highway to record their protest.

The protestors chanted slogans against Levies and administration and demanded a judicial inquiry in the case. They also refuted the claims that the deceased was a robber.

Meanwhile, Provincial Minister WASA. Noor Muhammad Dumar contacted the protestors assured them justice will be served at any coast.

Noor Muhammad Dumar said no one will be allowed to take law into his own hand and said that the action will be taken against those involved in the cold blooded brutal murder of the man.

He said that the Levies officials involved in the killing had been suspended by DC and a proper inquiry had been ordered in the matter.
