Cop martyred in Peshawar grenade attack

A policeman was martyred, with others injured, in a grenade attack on a police van in the Hayatabad area of Peshawar on Friday.

According to reports, the attack on the Rapid Response Force (RRF) personnel was carried out by unidentified attackers.

Soon after the grenade attack, police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and a cordon was established while the wounded were evacuated to a nearby medical facility. The body of the martyred officer was shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex.

An emergency was also declared at Hayatabad Medical Complex following the attack.

The RRF vehicle, carrying three security personnel, was on a routine patrol when the unidentified assailants attacked, CCPO Peshaidasar revealed.

The patrol commander was martyred in the attack while the other personnel were wounded. The police vehicle was reportedly parked at the Hayatabad Karkhano check post.
