ISLAMABAD:

In a custody dispute over a five-year-old, a couple shot and seriously injured each other at Ghauri Garden within the limits of the Koral police station in the federal capital on Monday.

The woman was shot in the leg and doctors feared she would permanently lose the function in her leg.

According to police sources, a domestic dispute arose between Zeeshan Ali and Azram Bibi, a married couple. Both of them demanded that they keep their son with them. A few days before Eid, Zeeshan took his son with him from school which upset his mother. When she came to pick up her son from her husband's house, Zeeshan shot her in the heel.

In a police statement, Zeeshan said he first opened fire on his wife after which his wife fired at him with a pistol and he sustained bullets in the stomach.

In this regard, SHO Arshad Ali told The Express Tribune that the matter is under investigation.
