ABBOTABAD:

The district administration and Abbottabad Cantonment Board (ACB) continued its anti-encroachment drive on Nullah Jab on the sixth consecutive day and cleared Bilal Town.

According to the revenue department record, the actual size of Jab Nullah was 33 feet wide but owing to encroachment it has shrunk to 10 feet which is causing urban flooding in Abbottabad city.

The ACB has served notice to encroachers to remove their illegal structures within seven days otherwise they would be razed through an operation. Assistant Commissioner Mujtaba Bharwana and Additional AC Ameenul Hasanat were present during the anti-encroachment drive at Bilal Town and Hassan Town.

Bharwana said that the district administration would clear all encroached land from encroachers, adding that in Bilal Town the encroachments were causing flash floods to enter houses in low-lying areas of Abbottabad.

He said that when the officials checked the document of a house beside Nullah Jab, the actual area was 9.5 marlas while the house was constructed on 13.5 marlas.

The AC said notices had been served on all encroachers to voluntarily demolish their structure within seven days.
