47,000 police personnel deployed for Eid security

As many as 47,000 police personnel will perform security duties for guarding 25,672 Eid gatherings at mosques, imambargahs, minority places of worship and open spaces across the province.
These included 250 gazetted officers, 537 inspectors, 1,680 sub-inspectors, 3,171 ASIs, 2,387 head constables, 27,869 constables, 9,093 Police National Volunteers and 3,329 Special Police.
Over 222 QRF Teams will also be deployed at the sensitive places whereas 242 walkthrough gates, 12,373 metal detectors and 10,640 CCTV cameras shall also be installed for security purposes.
Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan shared it while briefing IG Punjab Inam Ghani during the RPO Conference for the security of Eidul Azha and CPEC at the IG Office on Monday.
The IG Punjab has issued orders to cancel the leave of all officers and personnel posted in the field formations of Punjab Police on Eidul Azha.
In a letter sent to all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs, it has been directed that on Eid, the citizens go back to their home areas and the safety of their homes is the responsibility of the police.

No officer or official will be able to go on leave on the occasion of Eid, he added.
The IG Punjab has directed the Additional IGP PHP to maintain effective coordination with the district teams and provide all possible security on the highways to the citizens going home during the Eid holidays.
Ghani said that fool-proof security of Chinese experts working on CPEC projects, Chinese investors coming to Pakistan for business activities, businessmen and ordinary Chinese citizens is being ensured by Punjab Police and Special Protection Unit (SPU).
In this regard, all the supervisory officers should review the security arrangements of CPEC projects or other installations in their districts.
He said a fresh security audit of all CPEC, non-CPEC and private projects of Chinese citizens across the province should be done while fresh scrutiny of private staff working as focal persons should also be undertaken.
